Romania, also called Roumania, borders with Hungary in its western side, with Ukraine and Moldova in the northeast, and with Bulgaria and Servia in the south. This country has some interesting coastlines provided by the Black Sea as well as several other unique and attractive natural spots spread throughout its territory.

Romania's local currency uses the leu, although it might adopt the euro in the near future. The official language is the Romanian, a language of Indo European roots often called Romantic or Romanic. Besides Romanian, while traveling in Romania tourists could find people speaking some other languages, such as per example Italian, Spanish or French among others in such a way that language would not be an important barrier or obstacle for a proper communication.

From the point of view of politics, is interesting to know that Romania is a Democratic Republic, with a legislative branch that counts with two chambers: the Chamber of Deputies and the Chamber of the Senate. The President is elected by popular vote every five years, while the chamber of deputies and the Senate are elected every four years.

The territory of Romania is divided in 41 counties, locally known as judetes. Romania's territory has shown some increasing in the last years due to the fact that it seems to be gaining space against the sea towards the area of Danube Delta. This way, while in 1969 Romania's territory was of about 237,400 km2, in 2005 it was of about 238,300 km2.

The central region of Romania shows an important extension of mountains, called the Carpathian Mountains, located near the Baragan Plains. The Carpathian Mountains consist on 14 major peaks of more than 2,000 m. Towards the southern side, these mountains end and some hills and lower formations can be observed instead.

Romania's largest city is Bucharest o Bucurestim the country's capital with a population of more than 2 million people. Some other large cities in this country are Iasi, Cluj Napoca, Timisoara, Constanta, Craiova, Galati, Brasov, Ploiesti, and Braila among others. These cities, along with Romania's natural elements and formations, are some of the major attractions offered by this country.
