Le Mans - A great place for car lovers
The French town of Le Mans, located within the region of Loire Valley, is worldwide famous by its Le Mans Grand Prix automobile race. But, although this is a major attraction, this town also has several other interesting things to offer and which tourists should be aware of while being in the region.
Le Mans has a population of about 145,000 people, and has a very important role for its region due to the fact that it is seen as the center area of agriculture and industry. This way, there are several different reasons by which this town is famous, within its region and surroundings and within the entire world as well.
The Le Mans Grand Prix, also known as the Twenty Four Hours of Le Mans, is, as its name indicates, a car race of twenty four hours, and among the most peculiar and attractive ones of the world. This car race is held every June, and people from many different spots of the globe approach the town attracted by it, in order to compete or simply as spectators.
Not only car lovers can have a great time while visiting Le Mans and being spectators of the race, but truck and motorcycle lovers can have a good time as well. Trucks and motorcycle also compete within this race, although the main attraction and most famous competition area is the one produced by the cars.
Car lovers, besides than having the chance of being spectators of this amazing race, also can have a nice time by visiting the Musee del'Automobile de la Sarthe, or La Sarthe Museum of the Automobile. This museum was created more than a century ago and contains lots of interesting data, objects, and amazing cars for visitors to observe. Among the cars exhibited in this museum, there are, for example, Porsches and Ferraris which have won the town's race. Besides this, historic cars, such as an old Rolls Royce or Cadillac can be observed in this museum as well, some of them unique and almost impossible to find at other places.
